Our friend and economic commentator Franklin Sanders, who was interviewed for the Beyond Off Grid documentary and has been an instructor at both our online and live hands-on training events, made some astute (and humorous, as always) observations to his email subscribers in the past couple of weeks about Donald Trump.

His insights help inform us that the rise of Trump is a symptom of the disease we have in America, not the solution…

Franklin observes:

Time to rub some fur backwards and rile some folks! I wonder why so many people with otherwise sound judgment have been hypnotized by Donald Trump. Oh, I don’t mean for the reasons the media is presently bemoaning — calling him a Nazi. Maybe they’re attacking Trump for another reason: they want his supporters to BELIEVE they oppose him, to make him more believable.

What optimism makes folks think that once in power Donald Trump would make good on his present promises? Things, by the way, he hasn’t been vocally wild about in the past. If he’s such an outsider, how did he make billions of dollars in real estate in New York, of all places? Not by refusing to play ball with Big Money, y’all can be sure.

And since Mr. Trump has specialized in big bankruptcies, what makes y’all think he will keep his word once in Washington? Why, the Potomac might be renamed the “Politician’s Lethe” because once they drink those waters, they forget all their promises. Besides, how would Trump dislodge into motion the entrenched federal bureaucracy, not to mention a congress that oozes corruption like salamanders ooze slime?

Does it occur to anyone that Trump may be another False Flag, another Teddy Roosevelt/Bull Moose Party sent to split the vote and get somebody else elected?

Now don’t ya’ll get mad at me. I’ve got nobody in the USA to vote for, because I am not a communist.

As Patrick Buchanan observes, the Insiders are foaming at the mouth because Trump has dared to name the garbage can stinking in the middle of the room, namely, all their policies that have been destroying the US since WWII ended. Immigration is denaturing and displacing the American population & culture, crony capitalism has shipped the US economy overseas through all those wonderful trade pacts, and young US lives have been squandered all over the world in pointless wars like Iraq & Afghanistan.

Not a single politician will meaningfully deal with these hot potatoes, because they all belong to the Insiders & want to hold on to their jobs. Along comes Trump and voices what every middle class American knows, the country is falling apart at seams and beams. The smell of death hangs over us all.

I wish Mr. Trump well, but if y’all think electing one fellow with an excruciatingly bad haircut is going to change anything, you’re in for a nasty surprise. Regeneration don’t work that way. EVERYbody has to work on it.

Reformation is desperately needed in America.

But looking to political saviors as a remedy is a symptom of the problem of statist idolatry in the hearts of the America people, not the solution.  And certainly not in the person of a man of such poor character and ever-changing convictions as Donald Trump.

Reform needs to start inside – in each one of us.

History has proven that God works through minorities, working from the bottom up to accomplish His purposes, not through the masses driven by fear and greed.

Fathers and mothers repenting of sins, reforming our households first.  Then our churches and communities. Then our counties and states.  And only after a bottom-up reformation will the Federal government be reformed.

If it will last that long.

We need to focus ourselves on this bottom-up reformation of our families, economy, and culture.

We need to, as Franklin has told us before, “build the new economy now”, not wait until the current unsustainable system collapses on itself to react.

The hour is late.

What are you and your family doing to reform your household, your local economy, your community?
