We usually focus on how to reduce our dependence on modern systems in our everyday lives through lifestyle changes like growing more of your own food, building additional sources of income, and seeking natural health care treatments to unplug from the modern sickness management system that’s killing us slowly.
But today I want to talk to you about something more fundamental – the topic of survival completely independent of the modern economy and modern technology.
This is important not only so you may be able to survive a catastrophic event like an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack that brings down the entire grid and destroys all electronic processors, sending us immediately back to the 1800s in terms of technology availability.
It’s also important so that you’re prepared to survive in the harsh environments of nature if you should find yourself lost while hiking, stranded from a car breakdown on a remote road in the middle of nowhere, or some other scenario that leaves you without modern life support systems.
Let’s face it – we as modern people are completely unprepared to accomplish the basics of survival absent modern systems. And that’s a risk that we need to face, and prepare for.
I’ve been all over the world in all kinds of harsh environments…
I’ve been backpacking on a glacier in the mountains of British Columbia. I’ve been in the jungles of pacific islands. I’ve been to Greenland and Iceland. And I’ve been to the arid mountains and deserts of Afghanistan while deployed there in the military. (It’s a lot like the desert southwest where I grew up.)
Out of all those environments that you may have the opportunity to find yourself in, perhaps the most hazardous and difficult to survive in are those regions that are arid high desert and low mountain environments.
The temperature swings alone will make your head spin, with the ability to go from 90+ degrees to blizzard conditions in less than a day, and routinely having a temperature variance of 40+ degrees.
- Finding water is a problem.
- Processing food is a problem.
- Building shelter and navigation are a problem.
- Not having everyday tools and other supplies is a problem.
It’s a harsh environment to say the least.
Knowing how demanding the high desert environment can be, and that being prepared to survive in this environment will equip you to survive in most others as well, I’m excited to tell you about a brand new resource that is unmatched in its breadth and depth of training on how to survive in these conditions.
