The inaugural Prepper Camp was hosted by Rick Austin and Survivor Jane last weekend, September 12-14th, 2014 at Orchard Lake Campground in Saluda, NC.
It was a fantastic event, full of great speakers, great training, and great community.
I was blessed to be invited to speak at the inaugural Prepper Camp, to provide attendees with an understanding of the modern economy and how to reduce their dependence on it.
I received great feedback about the presentation, which is closely related to the documentary, and lots of encouragement and support from people to get the film finished and out to people like those in attendance so they can share it with their family and friends.
I was in good company, since Prepper Camp was the largest outdoor gathering of preparedness experts (35+) giving hands-on instruction in a wide range of important topics and skills.
Here’s just a few of the speakers and training sessions:
- Dale Stewart – Survival Mindset
- Richard Cleveland – Survivalist Eye
- Rich Davis – Preparing for a Financial Crisis
- Rich Day – Ham Radio and Emergency Comms
- Rick Austin – Secret Garden of Survival
- Scott Hunt – Retreat Water Systems
- Skinny Medic – First Aid for Preparedness
- Survivor Jane – Preparedness Basics
- Tara Dodrill – Prepping for the Grid to Fail
- Vincent DeNiro – Bugging Out – What You Really Need to Know
- William Forstchen – One Second After
In addition to the great speakers, the attendees were fantastic. I’ve never been to an event where there were more kind, caring, well-informed, and honest Americans. It was a huge encouragement to see so many who are aware of the dangers of reliance upon the modern system and are seeking to reduce their dependence on it and be prepared for what’s ahead.
The caring community atmosphere and unique opportunities to gather together and learn from each other, often around a campfire at night, are one of the most unique aspects of the Prepper Camp experience.
You can see some pictures in our Prepper Camp album on Flickr.
If you wished you could have attended but could not, don’t worry. The host Rick Austin invited me to bring a filming crew to record the sessions, and I’m glad to report that we were able to do so, and plan to release the video in an online training site in a couple months once the dozens of hours of video have been edited to provide a great viewing experience.
If you attended Prepper Camp, or even if you didn’t, please consider completing our Prepper Camp feedback survey, so we can get feedback about the event for the organizers and your input on what training topics you’re most interested in being included in the video training we’re producing.
With the first-ever Prepper Camp behind us, we’re looking forward to the momentum from the event to contribute to building community amongst like-minded and awake Americans who are preparing for what lies ahead. May God bless your preparations and efforts to reduce your dependence on the modern system.
